"Art Expo New York 2013 Winning Entry"

March, 2013

Early this year, I submitted my work, “Jumping,” which is one of my contemporary bojagis which include silk painting, collage and embroidery technique, to a competition, ArtExpo NYC hosted by NEA Inc, CA. For the ArtExpo NYC competition 2013, they selected 49 emerging artists’ works and then they selected only the top 5 finalists among 49 for giving an opportunity to display their work in the exhibition under NEA’s gallery. My work is included in the top 5 and I am participating in one of biggest international art fairs in America, ArtExpo NYC at Pier 92 in March.

My contemporary bojagi work in the Memory: Jeogori series, "A Korean Woman in Modern Times," was selected for the Thomas Contemporary Quilt Recognition Award, which is the collector's choice.   It will be displayed in the museum with other international fiber artists' works from Oct. 20, 2012 to Feb. 17, 2013. 

The awards will be given at the Quilt Visions 2012:Brainstorms opening reception on Saturday, October 20, 2012.

Newark Museum purchased one of my bojagi works, "Wearable Bojagi", were in the exhibition, "Make Me Something Beautiful. It will be in the Newark Museum as museum's permanent collection in their Korean gallery. (Aug. 2010)
